Yeah for Boring!

Posted on Wednesday 14 June 2006

I'm happy to report that my experience at the DMV was fabulously uneventful!  I came, I smiled, I signed my name, I took Micah to the potty, I left!

We went grocery shopping, which was also rather uneventful, other than that we seem to need to visit the potty in every building we enter.  Micah is learning to use the potty, and has been for quite some time, but has only recently discovered the wondrous excitement of public restroomsUndecided ("don't touch the toilet!! Or the little trash can!!  Or the stall door!!  Just do your thing and then stand very still while I do mine!")  I usually encourage this little hobby since it's progress in the "telling someone that I actually need to go potty rather than just sitting around wet and happy until they catch me" area, but today for the first time, I actually said "No, I think we can wait until we get home" at the 3rd place.  I mean, he had just gone 2 times!!  And neither time was exactly Niagra Falls; it reminded me more of a male dog marking his territory at every blade of grass.  And I didn't have to be totally scared because since I am not brave enough to do underpants (for Micah, I mean; I'm personally rather fond of them for myself) for very long periods of time away from home, he was wearing a diaper (which for the record he did keep dry even though mean mommy didn't let him go to the potty at store #3.)  Besides, I don't know where the potty IS in that store.  Also, I was hungry.

But boring doesn’t make for exciting blogs! :-) Just kidding, you manage to make even boring funny! Glad Micah is using the potty so well in public. Will is still too scared. (Those loud potties freak him out.) Though maybe I am not doing a good job making him realize he CAN go potty anywhere else. One day I made the comment about going to church, and how he could go potty there, and he asked if we were going to take the potty chair. I had to make sure he realized the chuch has it’s own potty. Sounds like Micah is doing well. He’s going to beat his cousin at this (non-compition) potty training thing!

    Yay for dry diapers!! :-)

I am always pleased when members of MY family stay dry in public. ;-)

Just to let you know about a future desire re: potties. When he discovers that potties vary quite a bit in people’s homes, he will want to check out all these potties too. Hopefully, they will be cleaner than public ones, although I’m not too sure about ours right now.
